Distance Learners: Home

This guide is intended to help distance learners use Wilkes University's online library resources.

Welcome!

Welcome to the research guide for distance learners at Wilkes University! This guide is intended to help you navigate the online library resources, get full text access to eBooks and online journal articles.

Online library resources are available to Wilkes students who are unable to be on campus.  You will need your Wilkes login (username and password for D2L, Wilkes email, Wilkes.portal) to remotely access full-text articles from the library databases.

To verify the best resources for your topic, find the research guide for your discipline or course, or Ask a Librarian.

If you need assistance with your Wilkes login, please contact the IT Help Desk by phone (570-408-4357).

Summon: Search the library for books, articles, newspapers, and more.

Search Summon

What is Summon?

Summon searches all library materials appropriate to college-level research simultaneously and ranks the results by relevance to your search terms. We call this type of research a "discovery search." Rather than repeating your search in several library databases for articles and the library catalog for books, you can do one search in Summon and receive results for all the articles, books, newspapers, reference sources, and more that we have on your topic. Whenever available, full text links appear on the search results page. Have questions about how to use Summon? A librarian will be happy to answer.

Need Help?

If you need assistance, Ask a Librarian!

The reference desk is located on the first floor of Farley library.  You can stop by, call, email, text, or chat with the reference department.  You can also make an appointment for an extended research consultation.
